Subaru Welcomes the Girl Scouts - Nala B
We didn't count calories or the number of boxes open in the Subaru showroom, but we want to thank Jeremy Gleason and Evan Paddor for allowing our girls to visit their store with all our cookies. Girl Scouts use cookie proceeds to fund activities like STEM, outdoor experiences, travel, and community projects. McGrath Evanston Subaru's support is vital to developing programs for our girls.
Hooked on the Hobby to Benefit Others! - Carol H
Fay Goldblatt meets Jeremy Gleason at McGrath Evanston Subaru to show off blankets made at the North Shore Senior Center to benefit cancer patients. McGrath Evanston Subaru helped the seniors connect with Endeavor Health so the Kellogg Cancer Center at Evanston Hospital could begin receiving the gift of warmth from Fay and her angles of warmth. When Fay started visiting the North Shore Senior Center (NSSC), she did not want to limit her activities to playing cards and sipping coffee with others. Then she learned about "Share the Warmth," and she's been here ever since now more than 15 years! Fay and her friend Carol lead a group every Wednesday and Friday to make blankets. Nearly 1,000 blankets are made yearly for people in need. Made from fleece and crocheted yarn, the blankets comfort chemotherapy patients at 20 different hospitals and trauma centers through the Linus Project.
Subaru Loves to Help at The Ark-Chicago - Cheryl D
I wanted to express our thanks to Jeremy Gleason, Evan Paddor and Adam Hain. Were excited to share the coats and shoes with our clients. One of our case manager came in at the end of the day to see the items sorted for distribution. She grabbed a pair of bright blue, new shoes and told me how wonderful it was to have this generous donation as her client had JUST asked if she could possibly receive financial assistance to get her son a pair of new shoes. She was so excited to tell the boys mother that we have a pair for him! And now the funds can be allocated for another need, there are so many. The Ark creates pathways to achieve self-reliance for Jewish families and individuals across Chicagoland through comprehensive case management and vital human services to address the physical, emotional, financial, and spiritual needs of community members. Anchored in empathy and powered by the generosity of the community, The Ark's professional staff and volunteers provide and support a wide range of social services, medical and dental clinics, pharmacy, pantry, financial counseling, employment services, mental health support, housing solutions and spiritual enrichment programming. All services are free of charge. The Ark is headquartered in Chicago's West Rogers Park neighborhood, with an office in Northbrook serving suburban clients.

Making a Dog's Day! - Laura L
Thank you to Jeremy Gleason and McGrath Evanston Subaru for featuring Georgie as the Make A Dog's Day Pet. When Georgie was found on the streets of Chicago, her physical condition told a heartbreaking tale. She suffered from bilateral entropion, a severely painful condition where her eyelashes rolled inward, constantly scratching against her corneas. The result was not just extreme discomfort, but a buildup of pus that further compromised her vision. It was clear that Georgie had endured this agony for most of her life, a testament to her incredible resilience. Georgie's body bore signs of recent motherhood. She was well-fed, indicating that someone had been caring for her basic needs. Yet, the painful irony of her situation was clear while she had been nourished enough to bear puppies, her critical medical needs had been tragically overlooked. The individuals who had Georgie in their care had used her for breeding, then discarded her when she was no longer useful to them, leaving her to face her pain alone on the unforgiving city streets. But Georgie's story was far from over. Within 24 hours of arriving at C.A.R.E., she was in surgery to correct her painful eye condition. The transformation was immediate and profound. For likely the first time in her entire life, Georgie could see the world clearly and without pain. The relief must have been immeasurable, a whole new world opening up before her eyes. What's truly remarkable about Georgie is not just her physical recovery, but the unbreakable spirit she's maintained through it all. Despite the neglect and pain she endured, Georgie remains one of the most loving and kindhearted dogs we've ever had the privilege of knowing. Her capacity for forgiveness and affection in the face of past mistreatment is a powerful reminder of the resilience and purity of spirit that animals possess. Today, Georgie stands at the threshold of a new life. With her painful past behind her, she has her whole future ahead of her. She's now looking for the perfect family to call her own a family that will cherish her and provide the love and care she so richly deserves.
Strut for Strays Raises Over $30,000 for Pet Adoption - Barb C
Many thanks to McGrath Evanston Subaru for sponsoring this year's 29th Annual Strut for Strays. We so appreciate McGrath's support. Last year, 2023, we found homes for 404 cats and dogs, a 3.5% increase over the previous year. The need for pet adoption in 2024 continues to grow, and we'll be close to 500 pet adoptions by the end of this year. C.A.R.E. relies solely on donations from individuals and corporations like Subaru, grants, and fundraising events like the Strut for Strays (our largest annual fundraising event) to support our mission of rescuing and rehoming animals in need and providing pet food from our pet food pantry at no cost to families that need help and want to keep their pets in their homes. Also, one of our dogs, Henry, who was at the Strut for Strays, has a meet and greet this week with a potential adopter who was at Strut for Strays. Fingers crossed!

The nurses and staff at Endeavor Health at Evanston Hospital want to thank McGrath Evanston Subaru and Subaru of America for Subaru's Love to Care Program in conjunction with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Illinois for the donation of blankets, pillows, and 40oz Stanley mugs to the patients and staff of the Kellogg Cancer Center at Evanston Hospital. We are also grateful for the customers of Subaru who wrote "Messages of Hope" on little hearts for our patients! The 80 donated blankets to our patients are a ray of sunshine that brightens the day of someone who has been diagnosed with cancer. We could not believe it when we heard that McGrath Evanston Subaru donated 250 coats, 200 pairs of shoes, and 400 pairs of socks for the children enrolled in our "Preventing Homelessness" program on Chicago's Northside. A convoy of Suburus packed with blue boxes from McGrath Evanston Subaru and Operation Warm was delivered to our offices by Subaru's General Manager Jeremy Gleason, General Sales Manager Evan Paddor, and a team of employees. The generosity of the Subaru family toward our families in need is genuinely heartwarming, and everybody at HOW is forever grateful for this donation. HOW has been Empowering individuals and families to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness since 1983.
